Godrej & Boyce Diesel GFG 35T – Weekly Inspection Procedure
Use this weekly procedure to maintain diesel forklift health, prevent downtime, and meet OSHA compliance in warehouse operations.
1. Diesel Engine Weekly Check
- Check diesel engine oil level, color, and viscosity.
- Inspect radiator coolant level and test radiator cap pressure.
- Evaluate air filter condition and replace if clogged.
- Check fuel lines for leakage or corrosion.
- Test engine startup behavior and unusual vibrations or smoke.
2. Hydraulic System Assessment
- Verify hydraulic fluid levels and inspect for discoloration.
- Check all hydraulic hoses for damage or kinks.
- Test mast lift, tilt, and side-shift under load-free conditions.
- Inspect cylinders for seal integrity and movement smoothness.
- Top up or replace fluid as required based on viscosity test.
3. Brake System and Safety Features
- Test parking brake and service brakes on gradient surface.
- Inspect pads, linings, and hydraulic brake fluid.
- Ensure horn, reverse alarm, warning lights are operational.
- Check overhead guard and fire extinguisher readiness.
- Inspect seat belt integrity and proper latch function.
4. Structural and Load Components
- Inspect forks for bend, cracks, and locking pin alignment.
- Check mast rails, tilt cylinders, and rollers for deformation.
- Test backrest, carriage, and fork-to-carriage welds.
- Lubricate moving parts like chains and guide rollers.
- Verify load capacity plate is intact and legible.
5. Electrical and Battery
- Check battery voltage and alternator charging output.
- Inspect terminal corrosion and clamp tightness.
- Verify dashboard display, hour meter, and indicator lights.
- Confirm starter and ignition switch functionality.
- Secure battery compartment and check fluid level if flooded.
6. Documentation and Supervisor Sign-off
- Log all readings, faults, and parts replaced in Oxmaint system.
- Assign preventive tasks for recurring weekly faults.
- Obtain operator and supervisor signatures with date.
- Attach photographs of faults if applicable.
- Archive inspection digitally for audit readiness.
