Weekly OSHA-aligned maintenance routine for heavy-duty diesel forklift reliability, hydraulic efficiency, and workplace safety.
Pre-Inspection Setup
- Park on reinforced level surface and engage brake
- Lower forks fully and shut down engine safely
- Allow cooling; gather tools and PPE
- Review previous inspection and service notes
- Place safety cones and signage in work area
Hydraulic System Check
- Check hydraulic oil level and fluid condition
- Inspect hoses for chafing, cracks or leaks
- Cycle tilt/lift hydraulics and observe movement
- Lubricate chains and pivot joints
- Check tilt cylinder mountings and pins
Engine & Cooling System
- Verify coolant level, radiator fin cleanliness
- Check oil level and examine for metal debris
- Clean or replace air and fuel filters
- Start engine; monitor noise and vibration
- Ensure exhaust is clear and no unusual smoke
Brake & Safety System
- Test service and hand brake under incline
- Inspect brake fluid level and lines
- Test horn, alarms, lights, and extinguishers
- Verify seat belt and overhead guard integrity
- Check emergency stop function
Wheels, Tyres & Undercarriage
- Inspect tread, pressure and sidewall condition
- Ensure nuts are torqued and rims are intact
- Check undercarriage for cracks or wear
- Clean debris from axle and housing areas
- Check caster wheels for free rotation
Documentation & Reporting
- Fill out weekly inspection report and remarks
- Report issues to supervisor or schedule service
- Update service records and inspection log
- Capture photos of defects for history tracking
- Brief operator about any action items
