Execute this annual inspection protocol to maintain long-term forklift performance, meet OSHA standards, and reduce equipment failure risk.
1. Pre-Inspection Setup
- Review past service logs and note any recurring issues
- Clean forklift exterior and engine bay for accurate visual inspection
- Gather manufacturer documentation and inspection checklist forms
- Isolate forklift with lockout/tagout before beginning physical checks
- Ensure work area is well-lit and tools are available
2. Engine & Transmission Evaluation
- Perform oil and fuel filter replacement
- Flush coolant system and inspect radiator and hoses
- Check valve clearances and test injectors
- Inspect transmission housing for leaks or wear
- Check gear shifting under load for smoothness and proper operation
3. Hydraulics & Mast Inspection

- Inspect power steering function, fluid level, and belt condition
- Evaluate tire tread, sidewall condition, and rim alignment
- Re-torque wheel lug nuts and check valve stems for leaks
5. Electrical & Battery System

- Verify proper function of all dashboard indicators, lights, horn, alarms
- Check ignition switch, start relay, and alternator output
