Follow these weekly maintenance steps to ensure safety, compliance, and optimal operation of your diesel forklift.
1. Tyre and Wheel Inspection
- Check tyre pressure and ensure even inflation across all wheels
- Inspect tread depth, sidewall integrity, and look for embedded debris
- Check wheel nuts and inspect rims for cracks or damage
2. Engine and Fluid System Check
- Check engine oil level and quality using dipstick
- Verify hydraulic and brake fluid levels and inspect for leaks
- Inspect radiator coolant and fuel system for integrity and security
3. Forks, Mast, and Hydraulics
- Inspect forks for wear and proper mounting
- Lubricate mast and verify chain tension and cylinder seals
- Test lift, tilt, and side-shift operation for smoothness
4. Safety Systems and Brakes
- Test service and parking brakes for functionality
- Check horn, lights, seatbelt, and safety indicators
- Verify load capacity plate visibility and fire extinguisher status
5. Electrical & Battery
- Check battery terminals for corrosion and secure fit
- Test dashboard indicators, lights, and alarms
- Inspect wiring harnesses and alternator charging performance
6. Documentation & Supervisor Communication
- Log all inspection outcomes in the fleet record system
- Report maintenance needs or concerns to supervisor
