1. Pre-Operation Walkaround
- Inspect forklift body and attachments for visible damage or wear
- Check tires for inflation (if pneumatic), tread depth, and damage
- Inspect for oil, fuel, or hydraulic fluid leaks on the ground
- Verify safety decals, capacity plate, and load chart visibility
2. Fluid & Fuel System Check
- Check diesel fuel level and ensure fuel cap is secured
- Verify engine oil, brake fluid, and coolant levels
- Inspect hydraulic fluid condition and refill if needed
- Check for any visible leaks around hoses or lines
3. Forks & Mast Assembly Inspection
- Examine forks for bends or cracks and secure locking pins
- Check mast chains for lubrication and equal tension
- Test lift and tilt functions with no binding or jerks
- Inspect mast rollers, lift cylinders, and carriage frame
4. Operator Safety System Test
- Ensure seat belt is functional and not frayed
- Test horn, lights, alarms, and backup buzzer
- Verify brakes (service & parking) operate correctly
- Ensure fire extinguisher is charged and secured
5. Engine Startup and Functional Test
- Start engine and listen for abnormal sounds
- Allow warm-up and observe exhaust for smoke or odor
- Check steering, travel (forward/reverse), and idle smoothness
- Monitor instrument panel for warning lights or gauge anomalies
