Visual Safety Walkaround
- Inspect for any visible damage, fluid leaks, or obstructions.
- Check tires for wear, cracks, and proper inflation.
- Ensure seat belt and safety labels are intact and legible.
- Inspect forks and mast assembly for deformation or damage.
- Confirm overhead guard is secure and undamaged.
Diesel Engine & Fluid Levels
- Check engine oil level and top off if necessary.
- Inspect coolant reservoir and radiator level.
- Verify fuel level and cap seal.
- Check brake and hydraulic fluid levels.
- Look for any fuel or oil leaks under the forklift.
Controls & Operational Test
- Start engine and listen for abnormal noises.
- Test forward and reverse gear operation.
- Operate lift, tilt, and side-shift mechanisms.
- Test brakes for response and firmness.
- Ensure all gauges and warning indicators function.
Lighting & Safety Devices
- Test horn, backup alarm, and strobe lights.
- Check all exterior and interior lighting.
- Ensure mirrors are clean and positioned correctly.
- Confirm fire extinguisher is charged and mounted.
- Verify load capacity plate is readable.
End-of-Inspection Documentation
- Log inspection in daily checklist with operator signature.
- Report issues to supervisor or maintenance team.
- Tag unit out of service if any major defect is found.
- Record operating hours and fuel level at shift start.
