- Ensure work area is free of obstructions
Battery & Electrical System
- Check battery charge indicator
- Inspect terminals for corrosion and cable tightness
- Ensure secure battery mounting and clean surfaces
- Verify charger is functioning and cables undamaged
Forks, Mast, and Lift Assembly
- Inspect forks for cracks, bent arms, or wear
- Verify mast chain tension and inspect lift cylinders
- Check for free mast movement and proper lubrication
- Test lift, tilt, and side-shift operations
Brakes, Steering, and Tires
- Test service and parking brakes for firm response
- Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation
- Check steering responsiveness and no play in movement
- Ensure even tire wear for warehouse stability
Safety Devices & Controls
- Test lights, alarms, and back-up warning systems
- Inspect emergency stop switch for functionality
- Check that load plate is readable and accurate
- Test dead man switch and other control interlocks
Reporting & Documentation
- Log findings in weekly inspection report
- Report any unsafe conditions or malfunctions
- Schedule repairs if issues are found
- Confirm inspection is OSHA 1910.178 compliant
