Clark C50S Diesel Forklift Daily Inspection Procedure
Follow this daily procedure to ensure operational safety, OSHA compliance, and equipment reliability.
Pre-Start Visual Inspection
- Walk around the forklift to inspect for visible damage, leaks, or hazards
- Check fluid levels: engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant
- Inspect tires for proper inflation and surface damage
- Ensure fire extinguisher is present and fully charged
- Confirm all safety placards and load capacity labels are readable
Engine Start-Up Check
- Engage parking brake and shift to neutral before starting engine
- Start the engine and monitor for abnormal noises or smoke
- Verify all dashboard gauges function properly
- Allow engine to warm up and check for unusual vibrations
- Ensure warning lights deactivate after engine start
Mast and Fork Assembly Inspection
- Check forks for cracks, bends, and secure attachment
- Verify fork heel wear is within acceptable range
- Lubricate mast chains and verify even tension
- Inspect hydraulic cylinders and mast components for leaks
- Test mast tilt, lift, and side-shift operations
Safety Systems Verification
- Test seat belt functionality and condition
- Verify horn, backup alarm, lights, and indicators
- Check parking and service brakes for proper engagement
- Confirm functionality of emergency stop devices
- Inspect overhead guard and operator compartment integrity
Operational Performance Test
- Test steering response and ease of movement
- Verify smooth forward and reverse travel
- Operate all control levers to confirm responsiveness
- Monitor engine temperature and performance during load simulation
- Document any issues in maintenance records for follow-up
