Clark C25D Diesel Forklift - Weekly Inspection Procedure
Follow this weekly procedure to maintain safety, reliability, and OSHA compliance for your forklift.
Pre-Inspection Setup
- Schedule inspection during non-peak operation times
- Gather required tools, PPE, and documentation forms
- Review previous inspection notes and pending items
- Ensure lockout/tagout is applied if necessary
- Clean the forklift exterior for clear component visibility
Fluid and Lubrication Check
- Check engine oil level and appearance; top up or replace if required
- Inspect coolant, brake fluid, and hydraulic fluid levels and condition
- Inspect for any visible fluid leaks underneath and around systems
- Lubricate mast chains, steer axle, and fittings per lubrication schedule
- Check fuel system integrity and fuel level
Brake and Safety Systems
- Test service and parking brakes for proper engagement and stopping power
- Inspect brake pads and linkage components for excessive wear
- Verify functionality of horn, lights, backup alarms, and indicators
- Test seat belt condition and locking mechanism
- Ensure fire extinguisher is present and fully charged
Structural & Operational Checks
- Inspect forks, mast, and carriage for cracks, deformation, or misalignment
- Check tire wear, inflation, and wheel lug nut tightness
- Test lift, tilt, and side-shift operations for smooth performance
- Verify overhead guard integrity and load capacity plate legibility
- Check drive controls, steering, and operational gauges
Battery & Electrical System
- Inspect battery terminals for corrosion and secure connections
- Test charging system and alternator output
- Inspect all wiring harnesses for damage or loose connections
- Test electrical circuits for lights, alarms, and indicators
- Ensure battery compartment ventilation and security
Documentation and Follow-Up
- Complete weekly inspection checklist and note all findings
- Document any maintenance tasks performed or scheduled
- Submit completed forms to maintenance supervisor
- Schedule follow-up services for any unresolved issues
- Prepare forklift for return to service upon passing inspection
