Daikin WRC – Daily Chiller Maintenance Procedure

Use this checklist to perform daily inspections of Daikin WRC water-cooled centrifugal chillers for reliable and efficient operation.

General System Overview

  • Visual inspection of entire absorption chiller system for leaks, corrosion, or damage
  • Record total operating hours and solution pump starts for maintenance tracking
  • Verify all alarms (temperature, pressure, solution level) are functional and audible
  • Check proper labeling and warning signs for chemical hazard identification
  • Inspect insulation integrity on all vessels and piping

Control System & Display

  • Daikin control panel display functional and showing clear readings
  • No active alarms or crystallization warnings present
  • Solution concentration readings within acceptable range
  • Operating parameters within normal absorption cycle ranges
  • Trending data logging functioning for cycle analysis
  • Steam/hot water control valves responding properly

Absorber & Generator System

  • Absorber solution level checked and within operational range
  • Generator temperature and pressure within design specifications
  • Solution pump operation smooth without cavitation or vibration
  • Solution flow rates adequate for current load conditions
  • No signs of solution crystallization or flow restrictions
  • Heat exchanger approach temperatures within limits

Heat Source System

  • Steam pressure and temperature within required parameters
  • Steam trap functioning properly with no steam blow-through
  • Hot water supply temperature and flow rate adequate
  • Control valve modulation smooth and responsive
  • Condensate return system operating without backpressure
  • No leaks in steam/hot water piping or valves

Water Systems

  • Chilled water flow and temperature differential within specifications
  • Cooling water flow adequate with proper approach temperature
  • Evaporator and absorber spray nozzles functioning properly
  • Water treatment chemicals properly dosed and monitored
  • Water pressure gauges accurate and within limits
  • Strainers and filters clean with acceptable pressure drop

Vacuum & Purge System

  • System vacuum levels within manufacturer specifications
  • Purge unit operating cycles normal (not excessive)
  • No visible air leaks at gaskets, seals, or connections
  • Vacuum pump oil level and condition satisfactory
  • Purge storage tank level monitored and recorded
  • Vacuum relief devices inspected and functional

Safety & Protection Systems

  • Crystallization protection system tested and operational
  • High/low temperature and pressure limits functional
  • Emergency dilution system ready and accessible
  • Solution pump protection interlocks verified
  • Emergency shutdown procedures posted and accessible
  • Chemical safety equipment and eyewash stations checked

Performance Monitoring

  • Coefficient of performance (COP) monitored and recorded
  • Steam/hot water consumption within expected range
  • Cooling capacity meeting building load requirements
  • Solution concentration trends reviewed for stability
  • Cycle times and temperatures logged for analysis
  • Energy efficiency metrics compared to baseline

Documentation & Reporting

  • Daily operational log completed with all parameters
  • Solution analysis results documented and tracked
  • Purge operation frequency and duration recorded
  • Water treatment logs updated with test results
  • Environmental compliance documentation current
  • Maintenance activities and observations recorded
